Meet Teri Hires, NBC-HWC, FMCHC
Throughout her career, Teri has been known as a teacher, a coach and a business leader. The common theme, regardless of which hat she wears, has been the joy of working with people, whether leading corporate sales or business teams, coaching individuals on leadership skills, or helping people focus on healthy habits.
As a business coach, Teri’s focus is to meet people where they are at any given point in their career. She believes “asking questions is gold” for any leader, and she incorporates this skill into her own coaching by helping leaders explore options and discover their best outcomes. Adaptability, intention and influence are consistent themes with her clients. Able to build relationships and make quick connections, her approach has been characterized as innovative and direct, strategic yet practical.
As a health coach, Teri’s goals are to support her clients as they transition toward a healthier lifestyle. She also helps them cut through the confusing clutter of web resources regarding food and lifestyle options that might work best for their individual bodies. She believes in the power of food as medicine, the importance of physical movement and the necessity of quiet reflection.
Regardless of the topic, Teri’s approach to coaching focuses on the simplicity of taking small steps toward defined goals while making the most of the unique strengths of each client.
Credentials:
Teri’s academic credentials include a doctoral degree in higher education administration (with a minor in management) from the University of North Texas in Denton, TX, a master’s degree in vocal performance from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, MA, and a bachelor’s degree, also in vocal performance, from Meredith College in Raleigh, NC. In addition, she has credentials in mediation and dispute resolution from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX.
In the wellness realm, Teri is a National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach (NBC-HWC), a credential obtained through a collaboration of NBHWC and the National Board of Medical Examiners. She is also a Functional Medicine Certified Health Coach (FMCHC) through the prestigious Functional Medicine Coaching Academy. Additionally, she is a graduate of the Institute of Integrative Nutrition.
